Teaching and the power of connection.
I love being a professor because I get to work alongside both graduate and undergraduate artists at the most formative and courageous moments of their creative lives. Students arrive with urgency, curiosity, and a willingness to question the world as it is—and as it could be. Their voices are young not in experience, but in possibility: bold, intuitive, and often ahead of the culture that surrounds them. Guiding artists as they learn to trust those voices, refine their vision, and take intellectual and material risks is deeply meaningful to me. In times of social and political change, I believe emerging artists are not just responding to history—they are helping to pioneer it. Being part of that process, in the studio and the classroom, is both a responsibility and a privilege.
